Legal / Privacy
Privacy policy.
How Buildcheck Advisory handles personal information, project records and the limited data this website stores.
Buildcheck Advisory respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, hold and disclose personal information in connection with our website and professional services. It is intended to operate alongside the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
We collect information you give us directly, including your name, email address, phone number, company or organisation, project address, project type, budget range and the content of your enquiry. If we are engaged, we may also collect site records, correspondence, approvals, drawings, photographs, invoices and contract information.
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health, biometric or political information. Please do not include that kind of information in an enquiry.
2. How we use it
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare proposals, deliver reviews and project services, administer contracts, issue invoices, maintain project records and meet legal obligations. We may also use contact details to follow up on an active enquiry or engagement.
We do not sell personal information and we do not add enquiry contacts to a marketing list without a separate, clear opt-in.
3. Disclosure
We may disclose information to consultants, contractors, certifiers, legal and insurance advisers, and service providers who help us deliver an engagement or operate our business. We only disclose what is reasonably necessary, and we require confidentiality where appropriate.
We may also disclose information where required by law, a court order or a regulator, or to protect the safety and legal rights of a person or the practice.
4. Storage and security
Information is held in secure electronic systems and, where necessary, in physical project files. Access is limited to people who need it for the purposes described in this policy. We use access controls, backups and secure transmission for project records.
Some service providers may store data outside Australia. Where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider applies appropriate privacy and security protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain project and financial records for at least seven years, or longer where a contract, insurer or legal requirement applies. Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept only as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the contact.
5. Access and correction
You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. We will respond within a reasonable period and may need to verify your identity. There may be limited circumstances where access is refused, and we will explain the reason in writing.
To make a request, email hello@buildcheckadvisory.example or call 08 6180 4427.
6. Cookies and browser storage
This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies. It uses a small browser storage value to remember whether you have accepted or dismissed the cookie notice. That choice stays on your device until you clear your browser storage.
If we add analytics in future, this policy will be updated before any non-essential cookie is set. You can also control cookies and site data through your browser settings.
7. Complaints and contact
If you have a privacy question or concern, contact us first at hello@buildcheckadvisory.example or Level 12, 100 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable period, usually 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) on 1300 363 992 or at oaic.gov.au.
